Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. It uses a timer to break work down into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short 5-minute breaks. These intervals are named pomodoros.

How do the ambient sounds work?

We use the browser's built-in Web Audio API to synthesize relaxing soundwaves (white noise, rain patter, ocean wave oscillations) locally in real-time. This means no sound files are downloaded, and it works completely offline.

Will the timer work if I switch browser tabs?

Yes. The timer uses background Web Worker compatible intervals so it keeps running accurately even if you're working in another tab.

Can I customize the alert ring?

Yes, when a focus or break interval completes, a pleasant alert chime will sound to notify you to switch tasks.
